Our Vision
To Abolish Chemical Weapons
We recognise the growing threat of chemical weapons technologies being developed, stored and used. Under this growing pressure, we recognise the need to educate and commit against these practices.
ICWU is the only global organization securing a clear commitment from all individuals and organisations to stop chemical weapons.
Our practices are based on the OPCW’s Chemical Weapons Convention established in 1997, as to provide guidance for those producing, processing, consuming, importing or exporting chemicals. Through our outreach engagement and advocacy work we aim to ensure that all states comply with the following:
- Destroy all stockpiles of chemical weapons and facilities of chemical weapons
- Never to develop, produce, stockpile or use chemical weapons
- Regularly submit declarations on the production, processing, consumption, and import and export of certain dual-use chemicals
- Allow routine inspections on their territories

Our mission is to provide education and awareness around chemical weapons. Creating a generation of peacebuilders dedicated to the successful development in community leadership.
How we do it:
- Chemical Weapons Accord – Taking empowering steps to prevent the practice of chemical weapons, as well as upholding the OPCW’s Chemical Weapons Convention.
- Chemical Weapons Certification – Presenting assurity of the core accord competencies.
- Tailored Awareness Training – Our expert team created this to inspire, teach peace, and raise awareness of pragmatic measures and policy.
- #ChemistryForPeace Campaign – Providing a platform for individuals and communities to shape and promote projects and ideas.
